Module 3: The AI-Robot Brain (NVIDIA Isaac™)

Focus: Advanced perception and navigation for humanoid robots using the NVIDIA Isaac platform.

This module builds on Module 1 (ROS2 fundamentals) and Module 2 (Sensors and Perception) to teach students how to leverage the NVIDIA Isaac platform for advanced humanoid robot capabilities. You'll learn about photorealistic simulation with Isaac Sim, hardware-accelerated perception with Isaac ROS, and specialized navigation for bipedal robots using Nav2.

  • Understand NVIDIA Isaac Sim for photorealistic simulation and synthetic data generation
  • Learn Isaac ROS for hardware-accelerated VSLAM (Visual SLAM) and navigation
  • Master Nav2 for path planning tailored to bipedal humanoid movement

Prerequisites

  • Module 1 Complete: Understanding of ROS2 nodes, topics, publishers, subscribers, and message types
  • Module 2 Complete: Knowledge of camera systems, depth sensing, IMU, and sensor fusion
  • Python 3.11+: Object-oriented programming, type hints, imports

Lesson 1: Isaac Sim for Photorealistic Simulation

Lesson 2: Isaac ROS Hardware-Accelerated Perception
